LPD respond to another pedestrian being struck by a car

The Lubbock Police Department and other emergency crews responded to a pedestrian being struck by a car in the 2600 block of Parkway Drive on Tuesday evening around 9 p.m.

UPDATED STORY: Police release names of pedestrians injured in two accidents 

Police said one person is in critical condition as a result of the accident. 

The major crash unit has been called to the scene, according to police.

This is the second pedestrian struck by a vehicle in the last two days. 

At 9:55 p.m., the following statement was released by the Lubbock Police Department:

Just before 9 p.m., the Lubbock Police Department received reports of a crash in the 2600 block of Parkway Drive involving a car and pedestrian.

Initial reports indicate the car was traveling west on Parkway and struck a pedestrian walking south across Parkway. The pedestrian was taken to UMC with life threatening injuries.

LPD crash investigators are currently on scene. Right now the westbound lanes are closed and drivers are encouraged to avoid the area if possible.
