Lubbock Police were called to the Nick Stop at 5812 Avenue P Monday morning for the report of a robbery.

Police had not yet released a suspect description.  At about 9:10 a.m., police got the call.  EMS was also called as a precaution.

The store owner, who did not want to be identified said that the suspect entered the store and picked up two 30-pack cases of beer. The suspect approached the counter as if to pay, but ran off instead. The store owner chased after him, which led to a fight in the store parking lot. Eventually the suspect was able to get in his car and flee the scene.

The altercation was all caught on surveillance camera. Nearby witnesses called 9-1-1. No injuries were reported.

The store owner described the victim as a black male wearing a black jacket, possibly in his mid to late thirties and standing at about 5’3″. He described the suspect’s vehicle as a grayish-black passenger car.

Police said it appears at this time that no weapons were used and the suspect stole beer. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Crime Line at 741-1000.
