Lubbock Students Impacted by STAAR Testing Glitch

Lubbock ISD V1 - 720

The Texas Education Agency (TEA) said glitches were reported during STAAR testing Tuesday. The glitches impacted Lubbock ISD, EverythingLubbock.com was able to confirm on Wednesday.

Lubbock ISD said 969 students were taking STAAR tests online locally. Statewide, TEA said it was approximately 104,000 students testing mostly in English I. TEA said the problem started at 11:15 a.m. and was resolved in 20 minutes.

LISD said students experienced a delay ranging from 15 minutes to 90 minutes. Some students in Lubbock were not affected because they had already completed their test.

Two years ago, major glitches affected students statewide which led to $20 million of improvements to the system. TEA said in this most recent incident, it appears that no test answers were lost. In 2016, more than 14,000 students had answers erased or were given the wrong test.
