IDALOU, Texas – Emergency crews responded to a one-vehicle rollover crash at about 11:30 a.m. Tuesday near the intersection of FM 1729 and U.S. Highway 62/82.
The Texas Department of Public Safety said a driver and passenger were inside a crossover-SUV. The driver was pronounced dead and the passenger was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.
DPS identified the driver as Juan Ramon Guerrero, 67, of Idalou. DPS said he was not wearing a seat belt. DPS identified the passenger as Amelia Rosa Guerrero, 80, also of Idalou.
DPS said the vehicle entered into the center median, overcorrected and rolled. Conditions were clear and dry. The speed limit listed by DPS was 75 m.p.h.
EMS, the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office, Idalou Volunteer Fire Department and Texas DPS responded.
UPDATE and CLARIFICATION: The type of vehicle in this crash was a crossover-SUV.
