Palm tree burns after lightning strike in Arizona

Local News

PHOENIX, Arizona (AP) — Kevin Kaminski and his wife were inside their Phoenix home during a storm on Tuesday night when they heard a loud explosion outside.

They emerged to see the tip of a palm tree on fire, apparently struck by lightning.

Kaminski said it was like a match had been lit because of how fast it went up in a blaze.

As residents gathered to watch the burning tree, firefighters arrived and extinguished the flames.
