Police release name in overnight deadly crash case

Lubbock Police responded to a deadly crash Thursday morning after 2:00 in the 4700 block of 4th Street.

Later, police publicly identified the driver who died as Kevin Flores, 29.  Police said his car hit a utility pole.  Flores was the only person in the car and was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The following is a press release from Lubbock Police: 

Lubbock Police Officers were called to the 4700 block of 4th street, at 2:12 a.m., Thursday, September 6th, following reports of a single vehicle accident.

Upon arrival, officers located the driver of the vehicle, 29-year-old Kevin Flores, who was the sole occupant. Flores was pronounced deceased at the scene.

At this time it appears the vehicle Flores was driving was traveling eastbound when it left the roadway, crossed the center turn lane, as well as the westbound lanes of traffic, and struck a utility pole on the north side of 4th street.

An investigation into what caused the crash is ongoing.
