Lubbock Police were called to the report of a shooting at about 11:00 a.m. Thursday in some apartments in the 2300 block of 51st Street.
According to a photojournalist at the scene, a witness said there was an argument and one person had a gun.
The person with the gun was hitting the other person with the gun, and the gun went off, the witness said.
According to the witness, the sound of the gun hurt the other person’s ears. No one was injured by a bullet.
Early Thursday afternoon, Lubbock Police provided this update:
Just before 11 a.m., the Lubbock Police Department received a call about a disturbance in the 2300 block of 51st Street. Officers arrived on scene and located a male victim who had been injured during a fight.
Through the initial investigation it appears a gun went off during the physical altercation; however, at this point, it does not appear to have been intentional.
No one was injured from the gun shot. The victim was taken to the hospital with moderate injuries from the fight.
The suspect involved in the assault has not been located.
