Protesters picket My Little Playhouse daycare in Central Lubbock

Local News

About 30 protesters showed up outside the My Little Playhouse daycare late Monday afternoon chanting “don’t abuse our youth.”

A video from inside My Little Playhouse went viral last week which depicts an adult pulling the hair of a small child.  Lubbock Police said the video prompted an investigation.

Once officers looked into it, they found the video was recorded in December.

The daycare released a statement saying that once My Little Playhouse learned of the video, “Staff involved were fired immediately.”

Protesters held signs with messages such as “I am their voice,” and “It’s not okay.”

A couple of the signs called for the daycare to be shut down. A child among the protesters held a sign that said, “We matter too.”

The parents of the little girl shown in the video are the ones who organized the protest. They did this to continue to bring attention to what they called child abuse.

“We’re not angry, we just want justice,” said Laquitta Wilson, Amyra’s mom. “We are here today to see justice for Amyra and any other neglected and abused child out here who cannot speak for themselves.”

No charges have been filed in this case and no violations have been filed against the daycare center.

Reporters called the daycare on Monday and asked for a comment, but did not recieve a phone call back.
