EverythingLubbock.com was able to confirm Sunday morning that a shooting victim died after an incident Saturday night.
Officers were called just before 9:00 pm to the area of 34th Street and Joliet Avenue.
“A male gunshot victim was located and transported to UMC with serious injuries,” police said Saturday night. “At this time the suspect who fled the scene in a vehicle has not been located.”

LPD Investigating Saturday Night Shooting
(LUBBOCK, TX) – Detectives from the Crimes Against Children and Persons Crimes Units are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Saturday night.
On January 20th, at approximately 8:50 p.m., the Lubbock Police Department received calls that shots had just been fired in the area of 3300 Joliet Avenue. When officers arrived, they located a male gunshot victim.
The victim, 16-year-old Mackinley Malone, was taken to University Medical Center where he was later pronounced deceased.
Investigators with both the Persons Crimes Unit and Crimes Against Children Squad were called to the scene to investigate the circumstances surrounding this shooting.
No suspects have been located at this time.
