ANDREWS, Texas (KMID/KPEJ)– Slaton ISD is asking for prayers after training staff were involved in a crash near Andrews on the way to Kermit for a football game. 

The Texas Department of Public Safety released details regarding a Slaton ISD vehicle crash in Andrews on Friday.

DPS said the crash occurred at 3:45 p.m. at State Highway 115 and FM 2371.

DPS said a Kenworth truck with a trailer was traveling southbound on FM 2371 and had stopped at the stop sign marked intersection with SH 115. The Slaton ISD Ford Expedition SUV was traveling westbound on SH 115, approaching FM 2371.

The Kenworth truck failed to yield the right of way at the stop sign and entered the intersection in front of the Slaton ISD vehicle, resulting in a collision, according to DPS.

DPS said the driver of the truck, a faculty member of Slaton ISD, and four passenger Slaton ISD students were transported to Permian Regional Medical Center in Andrews in stable condition.

The weather conditions were clear and the road conditions were dry, according to DPS.
