ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – Police have filed search warrants to get information from the phones of two individuals who could have been involved in the possible homicide of a young West Texas woman who died in Abilene last month.

Jeannie Quinn, 20, of Levelland was found dead under “suspicious circumstances” at the intersection of N. 10th Street and Marigold Street on April 17, a few days after she was reported missing out of Levelland, Texas.

During the investigation into Quinn’s death, court documents state detectives learned her last known companion was her boyfriend.***

Police questioned her boyfriend the day after her death and learned they had come from Levelland to visit some friends in the Big Country that weekend, according to the documents.

Once they arrived in Abilene Sunday, they got in a fight and Quinn drove away in his truck, leaving him on the side of N. 1st Street, according to the documents.

The boyfriend told police he tried to contact Quinn several times with no luck, so the documents state he called a friend*** to come pick him up after he walked all the way to Snyder, Texas.

His friend then took him back to Levelland, where he got another vehicle, returned to Abilene, and searched for Quinn, but the documents state he was unable to find her.

The documents state, “the circumstance of where Jeannie Quinn’s body was found indicate that of a homicide.”

Detectives have filed search warrants to get data and electronic communications from phones belonging to both Quinn’s boyfriend and his friend because they could contain evidence related to murder.

The phones may also place one or both of the individuals at the scene of Quinn’s death.

***We are choosing to withhold the names of Quinn’s boyfriend and his friend because no criminal charges have been filed. Their identities will be disclosed if the circumstances change.
