Littlefield Police on Wednesday morning announced that Alex Hernandez, 69, was arrested for sexual assault just after midnight.
Hernandez was also the subject of two arrest warrants for aggravated assault, according to police.
Police said officers were called to a home along West 6th Street to check on someone’s welfare.
“The arrestee attacked the victim at her home,” police said. “Two individuals arrived on the scene, caught the attacker in the act of committing sexual assault and came to the woman’s aid.”
Police said Hernandez ran off when confronted by the other two individuals. Officers found him and arrested him in the 1100 block of East 11th Street.

Details: Officers responded to the 1000 block of W. 6th Street regarding a welfare check. Officers discovered the victim. The arrestee attacked the victim at her home. Two individuals arrived on the scene, caught the attacker in the act of committing sexual assault and came to the woman’s aid. The arrestee sustained facial injuries and fled the scene.
Other Littlefield officers located and arrested the subject in the 1100 block of E. 11th Street in Littlefield. He was transported to the Lamb Healthcare Center by Littlefield EMS, then transported to the Lamb County Jail by LPD where he was booked and released to their custody. Alex Hernandez had two warrants for his arrest also. He had an Aggravated Assault warrant out of Dallas County and another Aggravated Assault warrant out of Lamb County. Those warrants were served and added to the list of charges facing Hernandez.
