Louis Martinez, Jr., 37, on Monday accepted a plea deal for failure to register as a sex offender.

In 2011, Martinez was convicted of criminal sexual conduct with a girl “between the ages of 16 and 17” in the state of Minnesota.  He was required to register as a sex offender in Minnesota, according to court records.

And he was subject to sex offender registration under Texas law.  He admits in court records that he failed to do that.

The U.S. Marshals Service discovered that Martinez was living in Lubbock – in the 4400 block of Avenue Q – since February 2018 without having registered as a sex offender.

He was arrested in mid-May and has been in the Lubbock County Detention Center since that time.

Assuming a judge accepts the plea deal, Martinez will be sentenced at a later date to no more than 10 years in federal prison.
