“At approximately 5:50pm the Dawson County Sheriff’s Office was called in reference to three suspicious Hispanic male subjects around a residence located on County Road 8. Sheriff’s Office units arrived in the area and began a search. A passing motorist on US 87 North spotted the male subjects traveling on foot northbound on US 87.
At approximately 7:00pm the last three remaining subjects from today’s earlier search were apprehended at the intersection of US 87 North and FM 1066.
The Dawson County Sheriff’s Office appreciates the public’s assistance in bringing this matter to a close.”
Dawson County deputies were searching for three people Monday evening who were believed to be illegally in the United States.
At 6:25 a.m. Monday, the Dawson County Sheriff’s Office and the Department of Public Safety responded to a traffic accident on US 87, approximately 11 miles north of Lamesa, according to the sheriff’s office.
After the crash, 10 unknown subjects ran toward a cotton field to the east, according to the sheriff’s office. Three people were immediately apprehended.
“It was then discovered all subjects in the vehicle were illegal immigrants,” the sheriff’s office said.
The Dawson County K-9 Unit, the Texas Department of Criminal Justice tracking dogs and the DPS helicopter were utilized to find four more subjects near FM 1210 and FM 2370.
“Three subjects are believed to still be at large at this time. They are not believed to be armed and dangerous,” the sheriff’s office said.
