Lubbock Police are responding to a crash involving an officer in South Lubbock.
LPD says it happened near the area of 82nd and Slide around 10:30 P.M.
Currently the intersection at 82nd and Slide is closed off as officers investigate what happened.

Lubbock Police were called to the intersection of 82nd street and Slide Road, around 9:00 p.m., Monday, October 1st, following reports of a crash involving an officer.
Upon arrival, responding officers located two victims, an LPD officer, and a female. The officer was transported to UMC with minor injuries, while the female was transported to Covenant Medical Center, also with minor injuries.
At this time, it appears the officer, who was the sole occupant of his vehicle, was traveling westbound on 82nd street in response to a call, with the vehicle’s lights and sirens activated; while the female, also the sole occupant of the her vehicle, was driving a four door passenger vehicle, heading south when the collision occurred.
Through the course of the initial investigation, it appears the driver of the passenger vehicle failed to yield the right of way to an emergency vehicle.
Crash Investigators with LPD’s Traffic Unit are continuing to investigate the collision.
