Update LPD responds to a truck crashed into pole, one man trapped

On Monday, the Lubbock Police Department and other emergency crews responded to a crash in Southeast Lubbock in the 1100 block of 82nd Street where a truck struck a pole around 10 p.m.

According to a photojournalist on scene, the driver was a man and he was trapped in the truck. The photojournalist said the jaws of life were called to the crash. 

Police said the driver sustained moderate injuries. 

The photojournalist also reported seeing power lines down as a result of the crash. 

On Tuesday, LPD released more information on the crash:

Just before 10 p.m. on Monday, Lubbock police officers responded to a pickup truck that had crashed into a light pole in the 1100 block of 82ndStreet.

The driver and sole occupant of the pickup truck, 63-year-old Larry Lindsey, was trapped in the driver seat. Lubbock Fire Rescue responded to the scene and used the jaws of life to remove Lindsey from the pickup.

He was then taken by EMS to the hospital with life threaten injuries. As of Tuesday afternoon, he remains in the hospital in critical condition.
