Amarillo Police arrested one of their own.

In a release, Amarillo Police say they have arrested Jason Zang, a Captain with the Amarillo Police Department for Unlawful Disclosure or Promotion of Intimate Visual Material.

Zang has been employed by the Amarillo Police since 1990 and was promoted in 2017 to the Captain of the Service Division.

Amarillo Police Detective and Texas Rangers are investigating the March 7 complaint.

The 47th District Attorney’s Office accepted the charge of Unlawful Disclosure or Promotion of Intimate Visual Material and a warrant was issued.

Zang was arrested and booked into the Potter County Detention Center on that charge.

An APD internal investigation is also being conducted. Zang has been placed on administrative leave pending the completion of the internal investigation.

The Service Division is comprised of several units and a team of dedicated professionals who provide essential support for the everyday operation of the Department. The major components of the Service Division are the Records Section and Property and Evidence Section.
