Police: Two dead in Amarillo in what authorities call a murder-suicide

AMARILLO, Texas (NEWS RELEASE) – The following is a news release from the Amarillo Police Department:

On May 20, 2019, officers of the Amarillo Police Department were dispatched to a residence in the 6200 block of Estacado. The initial call was a structure fire with people trapped inside.

Firefighters with the Amarillo Fire Department made entry into the residence and located two deceased individuals. One was identified as Robby Elsworth Fithen, a 45 year old male, and the other was Fithen’s 12-year-old daughter.

Special Crimes investigators determined Fithen shot and killed his daughter and then shot and killed himself. This case is still under investigation and anyone with information is asked to call Special Crimes at 378-9468.

Randall County Justice of the Peace Tracy Byrd ordered an autopsy.
