WEATHERFORD, Texas (WCMH) – A Texas wedding photographer was arrested Saturday, accused of public intoxication, urinating in public and threatening officers.
According to the Parker County Sheriff’s Office, around 8 p.m. Saturday, an off-duty deputy who was working security reported wedding guests found 26-year-old Katherine Leigh Mehta having sex with a wedding guest in a room at the venue, the Star Telegram reported.
Mehta was working at the wedding as a photographer.
After she was asked to leave the venue, deputies say Mehta went outside, walked to a fountain and started yelling. She then reportedly went to a nearby tree and urinated.
WFAA reported deputies noticed a ‘strong odor of alcohol’ on Mehta. A bottle of prescription alprazolam was found in her jacket. Alprazolam is sold under the brand name Xanax. Deputies believe she mixed it with alcohol.
After her arrest, deputies said Mehta made violent threats toward officers.
“Y’all’s daughters are dead,” Mehta said, according to the report. “Y’all families will be dead by Christmas.”
Mehta was charged with public intoxication and obstruction/retaliation, which is a felony.
A woman who said she is Mehta’s sister disputed the account from the sheriff’s office and told WFAA that Mehta was given spiked drinks and fell ill while working at the wedding.
“She said she went outside, and she said these two men tried to approach her and do inappropriate things,” the woman said. “And she said she was yelling and trying to get help, and things got turned around in a negative way.”
