Texas Tech returned to the win column with a 71-56 win over UTRGV Friday at United Supermarkets Arena.
The Red Raiders defense held the Vaqueros to 15 second half points on their way to their 46th straight non-conference home win.
Texas Tech (11-1) was coming off its first loss of the season to Duke last week in New York. The Red Raiders got off to a slow start but closed the first half on a 17-10 run to lead by seven at the halftime.
Jarrett Culver led all scores with 19 points in the win.
Deshawn Corprew added 13 points in his first career start for the Red Raiders.
Texas Tech opens Big 12 play on the road against West Virginia at 6 p.m. on Wednesday.
