Tech baseball drops opener to Baylor in extra innings

LUBBOCK, Texas — Texas Tech battled back from a 9-3 deficit to force extra innings but falls in Thurdsay’s series opener against Baylor, 11-10, in 11 innings.

Baylor jumped in front 7-2 with a Mack Mueller grand slam in the third inning but the Red Raiders would chip away and eventually tie it up at ten with back-to-back RBI doubles in the eighth inning.

The Bears took the lead for good in the top of the 11th when Dane Haveman surrendered a Richard Cunningham single to center to score Nick Loftin.

The Red Raiders fall to 6-7 in Big 12 play with the loss.  They look to even the series up on Friday.  First pitch scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at Rip Griffin Park.
