STILLWATER, Okla. The No. 13 Texas Tech softball team held a two-run lead, but No. 13 Oklahoma State battled back and claimed game one of the series, 3-2, on Friday at Cowgirl Stadium.

Karli Hamilton, Trenity Edwards, Jessica Hartwell and Zoe Jones were the four Red Raiders to record hits and Edwards was the lone hitter to drive in a run.

The Tech pitching staff limited to the Cowgirls to five hits, but starter Missy Zoch took the loss and dropped to 15-7 on the season. Sophomore Erin Edmoundson entered the circle in relief in the bottom of the fourth and she kept Oklahoma State off the board for the remainder of the game.

With the loss, Tech dropped to 35-10 and an even 8-8 in Big 12 conference play.

The Red Raiders jumped out on the board quickly and snapped Oklahoma State’s 19 scoreless-inning streak with two runs in the top of the first. Hamilton got the Red Raiders rolling when an interference play moved her to second and Edwards brought her home on a smoked RBI single into left field.

The next at-bat, Peyton Blythe pushed across Tech’s second run after a throw by Oklahoma State starter Samantha Show missed the mark and went rolling into right field. Edwards motored all the way around from first to give Tech a 2-0 lead.

Zoch kept Oklahoma State off the board for two full innings, but Oklahoma State evened things up in the third with a two-run home run.

The Cowgirls took the lead in the bottom of the fourth when a two-out, bases-loaded walk gave the home team a 3-2 lead. Edmoundson replaced Zoch following the run and she produced a grounder to third to limit the damage.

Jones kicked off the top of the sixth with a single up the middle but her pinch runner was called out for leaving early and Tech was held silent for the fifth straight inning.

Edmoundson and the Tech defense held off Oklahoma State in the bottom of the inning but Tech went down in order in the final frame to end the contest.

Tech looks to even up the series tomorrow at 4 p.m. Live stats, as well as a live stream, will be available for the game. For all the latest information on the Texas Tech softball team, visit TexasTech.com or follow @TexasTechSB on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
