LAS CRUCES, N.M. — No. 17 Texas Tech softball used a six-run fifth inning to come from behind to take game one of a doubleheader, 9-5, but couldn’t repeat the feat in its 8-2 game two loss Tuesday in Las Cruces, New Mexico.
The Red Raiders tied the game at four in the fifth inning of Trenity Edwards solo home run to left field. The would go ahead on a Taylor Satchell bases loaded walk then open it up with back-to-back triples from Karli Hamilton and Heaven Burton to go ahead for good.
The Aggies took the lead for good in game twon on Kayla Bowen’s two-run home run. The would score in four of their six innings at the plate.
Brianna Russell drove in Texas Tech’s only two runs with a home run in the second inning and a RBI double in the 6th inning.
The Red Raiders (36-13) return home to wrap up the regular season with two games against No. 21 Kentucky at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
