WINTER STORM: WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY: Until 6 am Saturday, Bailey, Castro, Cochran, Lamb, Parmer, Lea and Gaines counties are likely to see 1-3 inches of snowfall leading to hazardous travel conditions. Curry and Roosevelt counties in New Mexico are under a WINTER STORM WARNING until 1 pm Saturday for up to 6 inches of snow.
Temperatures on this Friday will be quite chilly, with highs in the 30s for most, up to 35 degrees in Lubbock. Snowfall will stay in the northwest South Plains through the afternoon today, then expand into the central South Plains and into Lubbock overnight. By Saturday morning, Lubbock is likely to see a dusting of snow. Main impacts from this storm will be hazardous travel, especially in the counties under an advisory.
LOOKING AHEAD: The next weather system is upcoming by the New Year. A strong cold front will move in on New Years Eve, leaving lows in the teens and 20s that night. New Years Day will be cold, with a high of 30° in Lubbock. Bundle up!
