TODAY: Another hot day is ahead, with temperatures climbing to the upper 80s and low 90s. The forecast for Lubbock is 89°. Winds will be from the south from 10-20 mph. A few thunderstorms that develop in New Mexico may drift into our western zones this evening, with minimal impacts.

TOMORROW: Temperatures will be in the mid to upper 80s Friday with breezy winds. There is good news and bad news regarding the severe weather potential in the South Plains. Bad news is there is still a significant risk for high impact storms. The good news is the area of impact is trending smaller, with thunderstorms now most likely east of the Caprock. Those still under an enhanced risk are between Post, Spur, Lamesa and to Snyder. Lubbock is still under a slight risk, so stay weather aware Friday evening.

THIS WEEKEND: Saturday will be breezy, with gusts up to 30-40 mph possible. Sunday will be more calm and a bit warmer. This weekend is trending dry with highs in the 80s.
