Things are cloudy across most of the area to start off the day. We’re beginning to see the clearing of the clouds to the northwest. Light showers are trying to hang on through Hockley and Lubbock Counties, but they will fizzle out very soon. The rest of the day will see mostly sunny skies. Even though a cold front will move in by lunchtime, we’re going to get a warm one out there. Lubbock is going to make it to 97°.
Cooler air is the theme for the weekend. We’re going to notice a major temperature drop by tomorrow. Skies will be cloudy during the day, which will limit coverage of showers and thunderstorms. Right now, they’ll be at 20%, mainly in the evening and overnight hours. With those clouds and the cooler air coming in from the north, Lubbock will only see a high temperature of 80° on Saturday. Wind will be at 10-15 mph.
